It,,s the biggest documented single drop in breast cancer rates. It’s attributed to decreased use of HRT following a 2002 study that showed HRT raises the risk of breast cancer. The data was so convincing the study was suspended in deference to the health of participants. After the study, there was a 50 percent drop in use of HRT.
DID SANTA BRING YOUR CHILD A NOISY TOY? Playing with noisy toys too much or playing with them improperly could damage ears, says a doctor at the London Ear Institute. He warns parents to limit noisy toy play to one hour a day, and make sure your child isn,,t sticking the toy in his ear. "If your child butters the cat, pours lemonade in your shoes and feeds cookies to the VCR, they just might stick a toy in their ears," he commented to WebMD. Some people might say if your child is doing all those things, noisy toys are the least of your problem.
WOMEN TAKING BLACK COHOSH for menopause hot flashes are wasting their time and money, according to a study published last month in the Annals of Internal Medicine. In a study of 351 menopausal women, black cohosh was no better than placebo in reducing the severity or frequency of hot flashes. There was a bit of good news -- over the yearlong study, women in the placebo group experienced a 30 percent reduction in hot flashes. Conclusion? The passage of time helps.
